SEO Is Not About Tricks It's About Trust

June 10, 2010

Back in the late 90s, optimising for search engines was as simple as stuffing a few keywords into META tags. In the early 2000s, repeating keywords at the right density throughout the page was all the rage. After that, getting links to your website from anywhere and everywhere was the way to go.

Over the past few years though, the inexorable rise of Google and the continuing sophistication of its ranking algorithms has meant that all that spammy SEO trickery is increasingly the stuff of a bygone era.

These days SEO is about trust.

Create a great product, provide great service, deliver great content and get real links and citations that convey trust.

Do this consistently over time and you might just become a trusted brand on the Internet. A trusted brand is just what Google wants to display at the top of its search results.

Over at SEOBook they’ve published new research that shows that when it comes to search brands are back. Very interesting indeed.
